Experience the rhythm of Salvador de Bahia this summer!
This July, Bloco Sambará is launching a special intensive workshop on batucada and Brazilian percussion in Barcelona, inspired by the cultural and musical energy of Salvador de Bahia.
Throughout the month, we'll work on rhythms, techniques, and arrangements based on some of the greatest references in samba reggae and Afro-Brazilian percussion:

Tambores e Cores
Repiquesia, the new project by Geraldo Marques
A space to learn, play, share, and experience the energy of batucada from within.
What will you learn in this batucada workshop?
In our summer classes we will work on:
🥁 Afro-Brazilian rhythms and samba reggae
🥁 Drum technique and coordination
🥁 Grooves from Salvador de Bahia
🥁 Group work and musicality
🥁 Body expression and movement
🥁 Creating collective arrangements
🥁 Stage presence and connection
The goal is not just to play: it's to feel the rhythm as a collective experience.
Brazilian percussion workshop for all levels:
Level 0: Never played batucada
Level 1: Played percussion or batucada for 6 months or less
Level 2: Played percussion or batucada for between 6 months and 1 year
Level 3: Played batucada for more than 1 year
It doesn't matter if you've never played a drum or if you already have batucada experience.

This summer, Brazilian rhythms warmed the heart of Barcelona thanks to Bloco Sambara's batucada workshops, which took place in June and July 2024. Led by its members, these intensive sessions brought together people of all ages and levels to learn the fundamental rhythms and techniques of the sambareggae batucada. Participants enjoyed an unforgettable adventure, combining technical skills with cultural immersion and fun.
Although the summer workshops have ended, the good news is that in September 2024, the Bloco Sambara school will open its doors again, offering regular batucada classes for all those who wish to continue exploring the world of Brazilian rhythm.

Summer Workshops 2025 Rhythm, Community, and Heat: Samba Reggae Workshops in Barcelona Summer 2025, another year! In Barcelona, the rhythm never stops. If you've always been drawn to batucada or want to try something new, our introductory workshops were a huge success during July and August 2025. During June, July, and August, Bloco Sambará offered intensive batucada workshops for beginners and intermediate levels in an open, dynamic, and high-energy format. You don't need any prior experience or an instrument: we'll lend you one, guide you, and make you part of the group from the very first beat. Now the school, with its year-round program, is on fire! You'll learn the basic rhythms of samba reggae, discover different percussion instruments (surdo, repique, caixa, fondo, and timbau), and experience firsthand the energy of playing in a group.
