LEVELS

Level 0: You have never played batucada
Level 1: You have played percussion or batucada for 6 months or less
Level 2: You have played percussion or batucada for between 6 months and 1 year
Level 3: You have played batucada for more than 1 year

At Level 0, you will start with a primary instrument to build a solid foundation, get comfortable with the rhythm, and discover the language of samba-reggae without feeling overwhelmed.

From Level 1 onwards, you will begin to explore and play various instruments found in a *bloco*. This allows you to understand the role of each musical part, improve your listening skills, and grow as a musician. In every class, we will form a complete Bloco, organizing ourselves to ensure all instruments are represented.

While each student will have a primary instrument, you will also learn to handle others when necessary. After all, our goal isn't just for you to learn a single drum; we want you to learn how to play within a Bloco.

CANCELLATION POLICIES

At least four classes will be offered per month (excluding public holidays). Some months may have only three classes due to holidays; however, this is balanced out by other months that feature five classes. If the teaching team is unable to hold a class and no alternative can be found for that same day, a proposal will be made to make up the missed class. Once fees have been paid, no refunds will be issued, and classes missed for reasons attributable to the student cannot be deducted from the payment. However, classes missed due to student circumstances may be made up within the two weeks following the absence by attending a session at the same or a lower level that has available spots. You must notify Guada in advance to confirm capacity and schedule the make-up session. It is recommended to make up the class during the same week. PAYMENT AND CANCELLATION POLICY: The monthly fee is collected no later than the first session of the month and must be paid before the 7th of each month. Failure to pay the fee within the established deadlines gives the right to make the spot available to other students. The quarterly fee is collected no later than the first session of the month as a single payment at the start of the quarter; it covers 3 consecutive months from the start date. To cancel your enrollment, you must notify Guada in writing or via email at blocosambarabcn@gmail.com. If you cancel during a month or quarter that has already been paid for, no refund will be issued. ABSENCE POLICY: In the event of an absence of one month or more—communicated in advance—you have three options: 1. Pay the regular fee: You can pay the regular fee and make up all missed classes upon your return, within the first 2 months of rejoining. 2. Pay a maintenance fee: You can pay a maintenance fee prior to your absence, allowing you to hold your spot at a reduced rate for a maximum of two consecutive months, with the right to make up some of your missed classes. For the first month of absence, the maintenance fee is €20 (allowing you to make up 2 classes upon your return); for the second consecutive month, the fee is €30 (allowing you to make up 3 classes upon your return). From the third consecutive month of absence onwards, if you wish to keep your spot, you must pay the regular fee, which entitles you to make up your missed classes upon your return. The examples above refer to a person enrolled in one class per week. If you are enrolled in 2 levels (excluding the advanced level), the aforementioned conditions apply to each level. 3. If you do not wish to keep your spot reserved, please contact us upon your return; provided there are openings, you will be welcome to rejoin! In this case, you will need to pay a re-enrollment fee of €20 for each group you sign up for; this fee does not include a new T-shirt or the right to make up missed classes.
